The Illustrated Man

"He took his shirt off and wadded it in his hands. He was covered with Illustrations from the blue tattooed ring about his neck to his belt line [...] he was a riot of rockets and fountains of people, in such intricate detail and color that you could hear the voices murmuring small and muted, from the crowds that inhabited his body"

"Eighteen illustrations, eighteen tales. I counted them one by one"

"From the outer edge of his life, looking back, there was only one remorse, and that was only that he wished to go on living. Did all dying people feel this way, as if they had never lived?"

"Listen, keep your ears clean. Smells the smell of a rocket. Feel. Remember. So when you return you will talk of it all the rest of your lives"

"I smelled the planet Mars, an iron smell, and the planet Venus, a green ivy smell, and the palent Mercury, a scent of sulphur and fire; I could smell the milky moon and the hardness of the stars"
